Daily Declaration

Note:  This poem is especially dedicated to my young Korean friend, Hoyeon Jeong, who is now my brother in Christ, since he received Christ and was baptized TODAY!

“Sing unto the LORD, bless His name; show forth His salvation from day to day.  Declare His glory among the heathen, His wonders among all people” (Psalm 96:2,3).  “The keeper of the prison... brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.  And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house... And he took them the same hour of the night… and was baptized, he and all his, straightway” (Acts 16:27-33).

Minute by minute that passes away
We’re called to give thanks and to bless the Lord’s name,
Showing His wondrous salvation each day,
Declaring His glory and spreading His fame.

Sing to the Lord in the joy of salvation,
All you who have trusted our Lord Jesus Christ!
Show what He did for your justification:
He laid down His life as the Lamb sacrificed!

Daily be ready to give a clear reason
That demonstrates surely how Christ may be known.
NOW is the time and TODAY is the season
To speak of the grace He bestows on His own.

Show how a sinner, though lost and depraved,
Can enter salvation, escaping God’s wrath:
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” and “be saved!”
Declare that salvation has no other path.

Consider how God has so clearly devised
A way to declare, by our Savior’s direction,
Our union with Christ by being baptized,
Identified daily with His resurrection.

O Lord, we give thanks for the joy that we share
With all who have found their salvation in You!
Now day after day we would boldly declare
The Gospel, and demonstrate that it is true!
