Decreed Door

“Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My name... Behold, I come quickly:  hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown” (Revelation 3:8,11).

The Lord has decreed it, and it shall be so:

The door that He opens is shut by no man.

We enter by faith where the Lord will bestow

A crown for His glory ordained by His plan.

How long is it opened?  We know not the length

That God in His wisdom decrees for each door,

But time quickly passes and so does our strength,

And one day the door will be closed evermore.

The door that is opened is not for our glory,

But rather the glory of God’s wondrous name,

To show forth the Gospel, the greatest love story,

Exalting Christ Jesus who bore all our shame.

Lord, we would hold fast to the crown to the end,

Until in Your presence, it’s cast at Your feet.  

So help us to enter each door You extend,

Advance for Your glory, and never retreat.
