Sowing with Sorrow

"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Psalm 126:5,6).

The Gospel should be sown with tears
Of sorrow for the sinner's soul
So unprepared as judgment nears,
Though Jesus Christ would make him whole.

We know our Lord was moved to weep
For souls astray whom He spoke of,
Just as a Shepherd longs for sheep,
Which strayed from His protective love.

We know the Word of God is true,
Assuring us there is a hell.
We know there is a heaven too,
Where sinners saved forever dwell.

In light of what we surely know
Of things regarding condemnation,
Let us weep and as well as sow
For precious souls without salvation.

So lead us, Lord, to sow with sorrow
And also with Your joy to reap.
Until eternity's tomorrow,
Lord, teach us with Your love weep.
