Poems of my Pilgrimage

"Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake Thy law. Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage" (Psalm 119:53,54). "For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely" (Proverbs 1:32,33).

We know that we are going home
To be with Christ our Savior.
His Word is His instructive poem
Along His path of favor.

His Word is yet a two-edged sword,
Distinguishing our path.
It speaks of heaven's sweet reward,
Yet also heaven's wrath.

Our hearts rejoice in our salvation,
Yet horror should attend
As sinners march to condemnation,
Indifferent to their end.

Your statutes, Lord, like songs we hear,
Attend our pilgrim way
To give us joy, yet prayerful fear
For those who go astray.
