Subdued by the Savior

"The LORD is my Defense; and my God is the Rock of my refuge" (Psalm 94:22).  "A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished" (Proverbs 22:3).  "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him" (Isaiah 59:19).  "We look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ:  who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself" (Philippians 3:20,21). 

The Lord our God is our Defense,

Our Rock, our Refuge where we hide,

Who gives to us such confidence

Because for us the Savior died.

God's Word enables us to see

The coming wrath that is ahead.

The prudent one to Christ shall flee;

The fool just passes on instead. 

The enemy comes like a flood;

God's Spirit stands against his harm

To lift the standard of Christ's blood;

For His redeemed, there's no alarm! 

We look for You, our coming Savior,

Lord Jesus Christ, with gratitude,

For You shall fashion us with favor

When all things are by You subdued.
