Rescued and Restored

"With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments" (Psalm 119:10).  "A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again" (Proverbs 24:16).  "He [Jesus] saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with Me one hour?  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak… And Peter remembered the word of Jesus… And he went out, and wept bitterly" (Matthew 26:40,41,75).

Why couldn't you watch for an hour
And pray lest you enter temptation?
The Lord would restore you with power
And rescue you with His salvation.

In view of what Jesus has done,
Why wouldn't you seek the Lord's face
And pray till the battle was won
For strength He imparts by His grace?

Now rise up, though you have been weak,
As Christ is extending His hand
To rescue all those who will seek
His cleansing and power to stand.

What wonderful love is this, Lord,
That rescues with grace You impart?
How graciously we are restored
To seek You with all of our heart!
