Redemption Remembered

"Keep the Passover unto the LORD thy God… Three times in a year… appear before the LORD thy God… in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles" (Deuteronomy 16:1,16).  "He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered… He sent redemption unto His people" (Psalm 111:4,9).  "Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: and they shall kill Him, and the third day He shall be raised again" (Matthew 17:22,23).

Redemption's shadow had been cast
In offerings that were sacrificed,
And prophets prophesied at last
Of the redemptive work of Christ.

Prophetic feasts then looked ahead
To God's redemption celebrated,
But now, as in the wine and bread,
Our precious Lord is contemplated.

How great is each prophetic theme
That has portrayed redemption's cost
By Christ who died to thus redeem
The souls of sinners who were lost!

O Lord, we have remembered You
And Your redemption with each token
In precious symbols that we view
Within the cup and bread we've broken.
