Covenant of His Commandment

"The LORD thy God… keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments… Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments" (Deuteronomy 7:9,11).  "My son, keep thy Father's commandment… When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.  For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life" (Proverbs 6:20-23).  "Jesus said… Follow Me" (Matthew 8:22).   

The covenant that God will keep

With those who keep the Lord's command

Shall guide and guard us as His sheep

To find the blessing He has planned. 

God leads us safely as we've kept

Our Lord's commandment when we walk.

His Word shall keep us when we've slept,

And when we wake, shall with us talk. 

The Lord's command shall be a light

To guard His servants from seduction,

To give His soldiers strength to fight,

And guide His sons with His instruction. 

Your covenant is clear, O Lord,

As Your commandment has conveyed

The promise of the great reward

Of blessing when we have obeyed.
