Necessity of Now

“All men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of His doing” (Psalm 64:9).  “Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more, then, the hearts of the children of men?” (Proverbs 15:11).  “For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in Me, And He was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning Me have an end… Hereafter shall the Son of Man sit on the right hand of the power of God… And they said, What need we any further witness?  For we ourselves have heard of His own mouth” (Luke 22:37-71). 

The time shall come when all shall bow,

Declaring Christ is Lord and Savior.

Yet there must be a time called “now”

To trust Him to receive His favor. 

For now His truth may be ignored

Dishonestly and willfully,

But no one shall deny the Lord

When dwelling in eternity. 

Though sinners now are not impressed

By what our Savior has made known,

Their apathy shall be addressed

In judgment at the Great White Throne. 

The great necessity today,

Above all things that can be craved,

Is honesty that leads the way

To trust in Christ and thus be saved.

The prophecies concerning Christ

Upon the cross have been fulfilled

Which said He would be sacrificed: 

Let every doubt be therefore stilled! 

For every Word of God is pure;

His prophecies shall have their end!

The evidence is thus made sure

On which we safely can depend. 

His prophecies of future things

We know shall be fulfilled as well

When He returns as King of kings

And Satan is consigned to hell. 

Courageously our Savior stood

Before those who fulfilled their crime,

Declaring words which surely would

Be brought to pass in their own time.

No further witness, Lord, we need!

Your Word abundantly equips

The servant whom You now will lead

With truth proclaimed from Your own lips.

Lord, send us with Your declaration,

The Gospel of Your saving power,

The wondrous offer of salvation,   

The greatest need now of this hour!
