End and Enabling

"Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.... And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 1:5,14).

Our Savior's commandment has this end in view:
Pure love, a good conscience, and faith that is true.
And with His commandment He gives us His grace,
Enables us always and in every place.

To every purpose an end is in sight.
We're sent into darkness that we may be light.
We're sent into hatred to manifest love,
Equipped with compassion and faith from above.

This is the end and enabling too;
This is what we in good conscience should do.
Stewards of grace, be true to your call.
As debtors of mercy to witness to all.
