Behold and Bless

"His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD" (2 Chronicles 17:6).  "Behold, bless ye the LORD… Lift up your hands… and bless the LORD" (Psalm 134:1,2).  "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged" (Proverbs 16:6).  "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God… Ye know that He [Jesus Christ] was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin… Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down his life for us" (1 John 3:1,5,16).

As we have paused in meditation
Upon the love of Christ explored,
We lift our hearts in adoration
As we behold and bless the Lord.

What love is this so strong that urged
Our Lord to leave His majesty
To bring us grace and truth that purged
The stain of our iniquity?

Behold the manner of this love
The Father has bestowed on us,
That we might dwell with Him above
As sons of God victorious!

Lord Jesus, as Your cross displays
Your love which we in part behold,
We bless Your name with thanks and praise
And know the half has not been told!
