Meditating on His Majesty

“O LORD my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honor and majesty, who coverest Thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain… I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.  My meditation of Him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD” (Psalm 104:1,2,33,34).  “Our Lord Jesus Christ… is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords, who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach… to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen… O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called” (1 Timothy 6:14-20).

The Lord our God is very great
Who clothes Himself with majesty.
He showed His power to create:
He spoke, and all things came to be.

Consider well His awesome might;
His power is unsearchable!
As with a garment, robed in light,
He spreads the heavens like a scroll!

How sweet these meditations are
As by our worship we have soared
To heights above the highest star,
Beholding our majestic Lord!

How rightly now we ought to sing
About our Lord’s majestic ways!
Behold the beauty of our King
Who fills eternity with praise!

The King of kings and Lord of lords,
Who reigns forever on His throne,
Still draws the sinner by His cords
To make His great salvation known.

Yet “science” falsely called today,
By which the blind will lead the blind,
Deceives the lost who turn away
With hardened heart and darkened mind.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Still calls men to repent and trust,
Yet many choose to be enticed
By self-destructive, foolish lust.

The majesty of Christ exalted
Shall not be hindered by their scorning.
Their blasphemy shall soon be halted,
Though they reject the Gospel’s warning.

We thank You, Lord, for Your salvation,
As we are praying for the lost
To wisely pause in meditation
So they may fear and count the cost.

We see Your majesty, O Savior
And meditate upon Your grace.
We pray for more to seek Your favor
And find You as their Hiding Place!
