Resting in Repentance

"If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?  But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared" (Psalm 130:3,4).  "Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:  for a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again" (Proverbs 24:15,16). "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish… How often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!" (Luke 13:3,34).

There is forgiveness now extended
From God to those who will repent,
For God so loved us, He befriended
The lost through Jesus, whom He sent.

Though Satan seeks to kill, to steal,
And to destroy those God has blest,
As we repent, the Lord will heal,
And thereby we shall rise and rest.

There is no hope without repentance,
Though every soul by God is cherished,
For without Christ, who bore our sentence,
A soul will join those who have perished.

O Lord, we thank You for Your grace
Providing for repentance now,
That souls may find their resting place
In You, while time will yet allow.
