Destiny of Deceit

"Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.  What shall be given unto thee?  Or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?" (Psalm 120:2,3).  "A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies… The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death" (Proverbs 14:26,34).  "He [Jesus] will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable" (Luke 3:16,17).

Deceit shall very soon be finished;
The lying tongue shall not endure,
But truth shall never be diminished,
For every word of God is pure.

The witnesses of truth are tasked
As messengers whom God has given.
Deceitfulness may now be masked,
Yet from the earth it shall be driven.

How fleeting is hypocrisy,
That lasts as long as men applaud
In contrast to the destiny
Of stewards of the Word of God.

Lord, what is chaff compared to wheat?
The wheat is like Your truth forever!
The destiny of vain deceit
Is like the chaff which You shall sever.
