"We are verily guilty... therefore is this distress come upon us... All these things are against me... then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave" (Genesis 42:21,36,38). "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?... Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:55,57).
Our heart acknowledges the charge
That we have sinned against our God.
The volume of our sins is large
That surely cannot be ignored.
Since all these things are now against us,
And each day draws us to the grave,
How can we ever be victorious?
We need a Savior who can save!
Give thanks to God who found a way
To conquer death, and set us free!
O death, where is your sting today?
O grave, where is your victory?
O Lord, how greatly we rejoice
To see You stand in our defense
As in Your Word we hear Your voice
Now thrill our hearts with confidence!
