Yearning of Yahweh

“Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me!... The haters of the LORD (Yahweh) should have submitted themselves unto Him: but their time should have endured forever” (Psalm 81:13-15).  “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

Think of the longing of God that we see:
What more could He do, or what more could He say?
“Oh that My people had hearkened to Me!”
How great is the yearning of Yahweh today!

The haters of Yahweh have hardened their hearts;
They will not consider what He sacrificed.
Rejecting the grace that He freely imparts,
They’re spurning the love of the LORD and His Christ.

This love that we ponder in Yahweh’s great yearning,
The riches of glory which God would make known,
The hope of His glory, and of His returning
Are found in the Christ who now dwells in His own.

There surely is more than our hearts can take in:
The yearning of Yahweh had counted the cost
To rescue our souls and to take away sin:
How great was His longing to ransom the lost!

O Lord, we are vessels of marvelous grace,
Displaying the yearning of Your great desire.
So teach us to glorify You in this place,
Exalting our Savior still higher and higher.
