"Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain" (Psalm 127:1).
There is a weary vanity
That builds to no avail:
The Lord builds for eternity;
All else is doomed to fail.
There is a watchman who has kept
His vigilance all night.
But just as well he could have slept
Unless God fights our fight.
