"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin" (Romans 4:4-8).
How marvelous this blessedness
That God extends through grace,
Imparting thus His righteousness
To Adam's helpless race!
Not by works which we have done,
Not by our self denial,
Not by strength we have to run,
Could we be undefiled.
This blessedness is found in hearts
Where Christ has been received.
It is a gift that God imparts
To all who have believed.
