"The LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend" (Exodus 33:11). "The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant" (Psalm 25:14). "The fear of the LORD tendeth to life" (Proverbs 19:23). "The Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ... Now the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always by all means" (2 Thessalonians 3:5,16).
How wonderful is this report
Of God and Moses face to face,
As Friend to friend who would resort
To speak together in that place.
Is
not this friendship marvelous
That
God has offered to us here,
As
He Himself communes with us
Who
walk with Him in godly fear?
The
fear of God forever tends
To
manifest in us His life.
He
is the closest of all friends;
He
is our Peace in times of strife.
O
Lord, when face to face above,
Your
friendship which we shall behold
Shall
then persuade us by Your love
To
say, "The half has not been told!"
