"And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at His doctrine. For He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes" (Matthew 7:28,29).
He spoke His words with clarity
Expounding heaven's thought.
Astonishing authority
With which our Savior taught!
The broad way and the narrow path,
The builder's rock foundation,
The gate of life, eternal wrath,
The blessing of salvation—
What words of timeless consequence
In all He had to say!
They speak with no less relevance
To us in this our day.
