Wealth of His Word

Read:  Psalm 70 / Proverbs 2 / Genesis 1 / Luke 4

Psalm 70:5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer… make no tarrying.

Proverbs 2:3-5 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding... as for hid treasures… then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Genesis 1:3 God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Because I know that I am poor,

I cry to God who meets my needs.

His Word gives wealth that I explore

With light whereby He safely leads.

The God whose Word brought forth creation

Now daily makes His wisdom known.

I need my Lord’s communication:

I cannot live by bread alone!

Borrowed Breath

Here is another Quiet Time Poem with three resolutions for 2021:

PRAISE, THANK, and SEEK GOD

Read:  Psalm 69 / Proverbs 1 / Malachi 4 / Luke 3

Psalm 69:30,32 I will PRAISE the name of God with a song, and will MAGNIFY him with THANKSGIVING... your heart shall live that SEEK GOD.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Malachi 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.

Luke 3:6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

I’ll praise my Savior with a song

And magnify Him with thanksgiving.

The Lord has led me all year long;

I’ll walk before Him while I’m living.

I’ll fear the Lord, the King of kings,

And seek Him with each borrowed breath,

For there is healing in His wings

With life that rescued me from death.

Steady in Stillness

Read:  Psalm 46 / Proverbs 1 / 2 Chronicles 16 / Titus 2

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Proverbs 1:32-33 The turning away of the simple shall slay them... But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

Titus 2:11,13 The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men... Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus.

In stillness the Lord makes us steady,

And we shall be quiet from fear.

With confidence let us be ready

To serve Him throughout this new year.

His eyes search the earth to and fro

To ponder our hearts and behavior,

And while He perfects us below,

We look for our soon-coming Savior.
