Led by His Love

"I will remember Thy wonders of old… Thou leddest Thy people like a flock" (Psalm 77:11,20).  "My son, keep thy Father's commandment… When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.  For the commandment is a lamp… and reproofs of instruction are the way of life" (Proverbs 6:20-23).  "Christ… loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood… and He laid His right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the First and the Last" (Revelation 1:5,17).

Recalling the way that Christ led
Through all of the dry desert land,
I know I can trust all He said;
I know I am led by His hand.

His voice in His Word I can hear
When I go, when I sleep, when I wake.
His perfect instruction is clear;
My Lord never makes a mistake.

How great is the love of my Savior
Who washed me from all my sins!
He leads me along by His favor
And finishes what He begins.

O Lord, I am led by Your love
With incomprehensible  grace!
I'll understand better above,
Beholding You then face to face.

Futile Fight

"Surely the wrath of man shall praise Thee: the remainder of wrath shalt Thou restrain" (Psalm 76:10).  "My son, attend unto My wisdom… Lest thou give… thy years unto the cruel" (Proverbs 5:1,9).  "Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee… and I shall set glory in the land of the living" (Ezekiel 26:3,20).  "Earnestly contend for the faith… For there are certain men… even as Sodom and Gomorrha… set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire" (Jude 3,4,7).

The fool will fight the Lord in vain,
For God shall surely be exalted.
The wrath of man He shall restrain;
If void of praise, it shall be halted.

It surely is a futile goal
To fight the true and living God!
It's self-destructive to the soul
And visited by judgment's rod.

The Word of God to Tyrus came,
Which many scorned and set aside,
Like Sodom also, to their shame,
And thus the Lord was glorified.

O Lord, how futile is the fight
Against You by humanity!
We thank You that Your Gospel's light
Exposes such insanity!

Promotion's Path

"Promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.  But God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another" (Psalm 75:6,7).  "Get wisdom… Exalt her, and she shall promote thee… I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths… Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.  Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil" (Proverbs 4:7,8,11,26,27).  "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth" (3 John 4).

Promotion comes not from the east,
Or from the west, or from the south,
But God still raises up the least,
And silences the boasting mouth.

The wisdom that our God will give
Directs our feet upon His path
And teaches us to daily live
For Christ, who rescued us from wrath.

It is not wise for us to wander
By straying from God's perfect will.
It is our wisdom now to ponder
His purpose that we should fulfill.

O Lord, no greater joy is found
Than in the path that gives You pleasure.
It's there promotion will abound,
For in Your joy, we find our treasure.

Confidence in our Creator

"God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth… The day is Thine, the night also is Thine: Thou hast prepared the light and the sun.  Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made summer and winter" (Psalm 74:12,16,17).  "Trust in the LORD… The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath He established the heavens… The LORD shall be thy Confidence" (Proverbs 3:5,19,26).  "Many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" (2 John 7).

God gave to creation its birth;
He made both the day and the night.
He brought His salvation to earth;
In darkness, He shined as the light.

All things in creation are His,
For He made the earth and the skies.
How great and how gracious He is!
How mighty He is and how wise!

We trust in the Lord our Creator,
Our Savior for us sacrificed.
God gave us just one Mediator:
His name is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our confidence, Lord, is in You,
Creator of all the earth's seasons.
Deceivers deny what is true,
But truth is supported with reasons.

Savior in the Sanctuary

"I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I… I am continually with Thee: Thou hast holden me by my right hand.  Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory" (Psalm 73:17,23,24).  "If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God" (Proverbs 2:4,5).  "We know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him… the true God, and eternal life" (1 John 5:20).

There is a place that I may go
Where God will make me understand
His lovingkindness He will show
In Christ, who holds me by my hand.

The sanctuary's quiet place
Is where the Savior guides my way.
It's there I learn to seek His face
And hear His counsel every day.

Within this quiet place I've found
The satisfaction of my thirst
With endless blessings that abound
From Jesus Christ, who loved me first.

O Lord my Savior, as I tarry
To understand the things above,
I hear You in the sanctuary
Remind me of Your faithful love.

Dominion vs. Dust

"He shall have dominion also from sea to sea… and His enemies shall lick the dust" (Psalm 72:8,9).  "They would none of My counsel: they despised all My reproof.  Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices" (Proverbs 1:30,31).  "Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them… their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD" (Ezekiel 22:31).  "Ye are of God, little children… greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

The Lord shall surely have dominion;
His enemies shall lick the dust.
He was despised in their opinion,
In whom they should have put their trust.

They'll eat the fruit of their own way,
Since they refused God's great salvation.
They chose instead to go astray
And thus received His indignation.

They did not choose to fear the Lord,
Despising all of His reproof.
They chose the things that were abhorred
And at His warning, stood aloof.

O Lord, our Savior and Creator,
We thank You for Your sheltering wings!
Our foe is strong, but You are greater;
What comfort to our heart this brings!
