Contemplation of the Cost

Read:  Psalm 1 / Proverbs 17 / 2 Kings 25 / 2 Cor. 8

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly... But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
2 Kings 25:28,29 He spake kindly to him... and changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.
2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

How sweet the meditation is
That contemplates our gracious Savior.
There is no greater love than His;
How costly was His saving favor!

There is no sweeter contemplation
Than that which ponders Jesus Christ,
Who weighed the cost of our salvation
And for our sake was sacrificed!
