Denial in Darkness

"Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off" (1 Kings 20:11).  "They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course… but ye shall die like men" (Psalm 82:5,7).  "The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble" (Proverbs 4:19).  "The weapons of our warfare are… casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God" (2 Corinthians 10:4,5).

The people walking in denial
May boast themselves in foolish pride,
For darkness lasts a little while
Until the day that they have died.

Denial does not change a fact,
Though darkness cloaks realities,
For God beholds each hidden act,
And every sinful thought He sees.

The lost in darkness still walk on
And do not know that they will stumble
When every hope at last is gone;
But God gives grace now to the humble.

Denial in the darkness, Lord,
Is waging war against salvation.
Your precious Word is still our sword
To cast down false imagination.
