Separated for Seeking

"God looked down... to see if there were any...  that did seek God... no, not one... they have not called upon God" (Psalm 53:2-4).  "Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh... with all wisdom... A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself... The ear of the wise seeketh knowledge" (Proverbs 18:1,2,15).  "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17).

When God looked down upon us all,
He saw humanity undone.
Not one upon the Lord would call
Or even seek Him, no not one.

If God had not pursued us first,
We never would have sought His face
Or even cared that we were cursed,
In desperate need of saving grace.

We are surrounded still today
With those indifferent to salvation,
Yet through desire, some will pray
And seek the Lord through separation.

O Lord, how gracious is Your gift
Of Your salvation from above
That separates each one You lift
To seek Your face and trust Your love.
