Blind to the Blessing

"God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it?  Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19).  "They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course" (Psalm 82:5).  "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6).  "Thou must prophesy again before many" (Revelation 10:11).

Our Savior never ceased to be
Our God, transcendent over all,
Though born into humanity,
Fulfilling His prophetic call.

In spite of prophecies fulfilled,
There is a blindness, nonetheless,
Though Christ foretold He would be killed
To ransom those He came to bless.

Upon His cross our sins were purged
Where grace and truth were satisfied.
This is the blessing God has urged,
But fools are blinded by their pride.

O Lord, Your blessing is so kind
In prophecies of saving grace,
Yet many, by their choice, are blind
Because they will not seek Your face.
