Countered Curse

"Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne:  mercy and truth shall go before Thy face.  Blessed is the people who know the joyful sound:  they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance.  In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day, and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted" (Psalm 89:14-16).  "As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come" (Proverbs 26:2).

The curse upon our world today

Was introduced by sin,

Yet God has found a wondrous way

To usher blessing in.

The curse has come; we know its cause:

God hasn't kept us guessing,

But though we broke His holy laws,

He countered it with blessing.

Hallelujah!  We have found

By God's amazing grace

A reason for the joyful sound

Before His holy face!

God's justice and His judgment stand;

His throne, their habitation,

Yet He by truth and mercy planned

And brought to us salvation!

This is why our Savior died:

To save those who were cursed!

This is how we're justified:

He took our judgment first!

With joy, O Lord, we now rehearse

Your love that You have shown,

Since You redeemed us from the curse

And claimed us as Your own.

American Ambassador

"A faithful messenger... refresheth the soul.... As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country" (Proverbs 25:13,25).  "I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world....  I am debtor.... I am ready.... I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth" (Romans 1:8-16).

America, from shore to shore,

God shined on you His face,

And made you an ambassador

And debtor to His grace.

America, now thank the Lord

For your unique foundation

Upon which blessings have been poured:

The Gospel of salvation.

America, do not forget

That God has blessed you so!

You bear the Gospel and the debt

To let the world know.

America, be not ashamed

Of your foundation laid!

The name of Christ you once proclaimed

Should never be betrayed!

America, it's time to turn,

Before it is too late,

To God again that you may learn

His mercy made you great.

America, there is a way

That you may be restored,

If you are humble and will pray

And turn to seek the Lord.

We thank You, Lord, that You addressed

This promise to Your own;

Revive America so blessed

To make Your glory known!

Comfort in Casting

"As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me.  Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud:  and He shall hear my voice.... Cast Thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee" (Psalm 55:16,17,22).

At evening, and morning, and noon I will pray;

I’m comforted knowing the Lord hears my voice.

He hears me whatever the time of the day;

He hears me in sorrow and when I rejoice. 

I'll cast all my burden on Jesus my Lord;

He called me to do so when I came to Him.

The comfort He gives is abundantly poured;

My cup He is filling runs over the brim.

O Lord, I recall that my burden of sin

Was laid upon You when you died on the cross. 

Before I was born You had purposed to win

My soul which You saved from unspeakable loss! 

Lord, thank You for making Your counsel so plain

That calls me to cast every burden on You,

As You are providing the grace to sustain

And comfort my heart with the strength You renew. 

Suffering for Settling

"The God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you" (1 Peter 5:10).

The God of all grace who has called us to glory,

Who calls us to suffer a while for a season,

Will show us at last when we see our life’s story

The wondrous perfection of grace for His reason.

The God of all grace will yet bring to perfection

The work that with strengthen and settle our heart,

As also Christ's suffering, death, resurrection,

And glory perfected His grace in each part.

The God of all grace will make everything clear

And show how our suffering settled His grace. 

Until that day comes, we have nothing to fear,

For no one can pluck us from His strong embrace.

Lord, thank You for showing us Your point of view

To show how You’re working all things for our good.

Let suffering settle our trust now in You

That we may give glory to You as we should. 

Time for Truth

"It is time for Thee, Lord, to work:  for they have made void Thy law.  Therefore I love Thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.  Therefore I esteem all Thy precepts concerning all things to be right, and I hate every false way" (Psalm 119:126-128).  "Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?" (Proverbs 22:20,21).  "There hath not failed one word of all His good promise" (1 Kings 8:56).  "If any man will do His will, He shall know of the doctrine" (John 7:17).

The world thinks they have made void

The truth of God's unerring Word.

The reasoning they have employed

Is blind, dishonest, and absurd.

It's time to set the record straight!

It's time to show the evidence!

It's time to clearly demonstrate

The certainty of our defense!

Has not the Word of God prevailed

In every promise that we hold?

There has not even one word failed

Of all His prophets have foretold!

Did not our Savior rise again

Exactly as He said He would?

So why should we be halting then

To make this clearly understood?

It's time for truth to now be shared

With confidence and prayerful skill.

So let us study!  Be prepared

To speak according to God's will!

O Lord, You have equipped us well

To tell the truth souls need to hear.

The time has come for us to tell

The Gospel truth and make it clear.
