Still Steadfast

“They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.  As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about His people from henceforth even forever” (Psalm 125:1,2).  “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Rejoice, all you who trust the Lord;
He is our Savior, tried and true!
For us His soul has been outpoured;
His mercies every day are new!

What more could Jesus Christ have done
To demonstrate His steadfast love?
He tasted death for everyone!
He left His majesty above!

As Zion which abides forever
And mountains round about His throne,
The Lord has promised He will never
Leave nor shall forsake His own.

So therefore, fellow sisters, brothers,
Be steadfast and unmovable!
Our faithful Lord is not like others;
He is the Refuge of our soul!

We thank You, Lord, for showing us
Your faithfulness throughout Your Word.
Your steadfast love so marvelous
Throughout the ages has endured!

O Lord, we’ve seen Your steadfast ways
In every promise that You gave!
You clearly said that in three days
That You would rise up from the grave!

So teach us, Lord, to do Your will
With grace from You that we obtain,
Abounding fruitful, steadfast still,
That we may labor not in vain.

Ponder the Pathway

“The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble… Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established” (Proverbs 4:18-26).

We’re walking today on the path
That leads us to heaven above.
We’ve fled from the darkness of wrath;
We’re led in the way of God’s love.

God’s truth is a light to our way;
His Word is a lamp to our feet.
Our path grows still brighter each day;
The prospect of heaven is sweet!

The way of the wicked is dark;
They know not at what they now stumble.
These contrasting ways are so stark,
Beholding the proud and the humble!

The path of our feet should be pondered,
For many have hearts that are hardened.
We also as sheep once had wandered,
But now by God’s grace we are pardoned.

Our life, then, as pilgrims, as strangers,
And sojourners in a strange land,
Should shine like a light on the dangers
Of turning from God’s saving hand.

We ponder the path of the lost:
Who hopelessly march to their graves!
Lord, use us to show them the cost
You paid for redemption that saves!

Lord, help us establish our ways
And ponder each path that we enter,
So life may be lived for Your praise,
And fixed upon You as the Center.

Faith to Face

“Unto Thee lift I up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens” (Psalm 123:1).  “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding... The LORD shall be thy confidence” (Proverbs 3:5,25).  “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

 I lift my eyes of faith to see
The face of God, my faithful Savior,
And find His eyes are fixed on me
With His eternal love and favor.

Transported to the throne of grace
Where I am called to cast my care,
The Lord in kindness shines His face,
And I am drawn to worship there.

How wondrous is this confidence
Which I have found in Christ my Lord,
Since He Himself is my Defense
And He is also my Reward.

Though now my vision is obscured
As faith looks darkly through a glass,
I’m resting on His faithful Word:
His promises shall come to pass!

O Savior, I am glad to lean
Upon Your faithfulness each day
Instead of circumstances seen
Which otherwise would cause dismay.

O Lord, that day is not so far
When I shall gaze upon Your throne
With sight that sees You as You are,
And I shall know as I am known.

Then face to face I shall behold
Your matchless beauty, Christ my King!
Till then my faith shall yet unfold
Your wondrous love to which I cling.

Bundled with the Blest

“Thy soul… shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God” (1 Samuel 25:29).  “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Psalm 122:1).  “Walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous” (Proverbs 2:20).  “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12:13).

This bundle of life with the Lord
Is where we forever are blest
With souls who in one sweet accord
Have found in the Savior their rest.

How great are the blessings bestowed
That flow from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who bore our iniquity’s load
When He was for us sacrificed!

How rightly our souls now rejoice
When hearing the sweet invitation
To worship the Lord with one voice
With those who have found His salvation!

Together with Christ we are bound,
Yet not by our feeble endeavor!
There’s no boasting here that is found
Except in our Savior forever!

As pilgrims together we walk
And speak of our Lord who draws near,
With mutual joy as we talk
Of Jesus our Savior so dear!

By one Spirit we have been born;
In one body baptized with favor,
Now covered with robes we have worn
Reflecting our unblemished Savior.

O Lord, we give thanks for Your love
By which we are bundled with You
And blest by Your grace from above
With mercies each day that are new.

Delivered from Danger

“The LORD therefore be judge… and deliver me out of thine hand” (1 Samuel 24:15).  “The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul” (Psalm 121:7).  “Whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil” (Proverbs 1:33).  “We are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world” (1 Corinthians 11:32).

The Lord is watching all His own,
To guide their steps and hear their prayers.
He draws us daily to His throne
That we may cast on Him our cares.

The Lord delivers us from danger;
He pleads our cause and intercedes.
Though in this earth we are a stranger,
He cares for us and meets our needs.

The Lord preserves us everyday
From dangers that we cannot see.
He leads us safely in His way
And guards our souls eternally.

Sometimes the danger lurks within
As we have hearts so prone to wander,
And thus He chastens us for sin
To turn from danger that we ponder.

O Lord, there’s danger drawing near,
But You are near forevermore.
You have delivered us from fear:
You fought our fight and won the war!

In view, O Lord, of what You did
To rescue us from condemnation
So that we are from danger hid,
We thank You for so great salvation!
