Rescued by His Righteousness

Read:  Psalm 124 / Proverbs 10 / Eccl. 4 /Mark 13

Psalm 124:2,4 ~ If it had not been the LORD who was on our side…then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul.

Proverbs 10:2 ~ Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Ecclesiastes 4:7 ~ I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.

Mark 13:2 ~ Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Salvation had no other path

Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ.

His mercy rescued us from wrath;

Earth’s treasures wouldn’t have sufficed!

We’re rescued by HIS righteousness,

Since God observed that WE had NONE.

There was no hope in our distress

Apart from God’s beloved Son.

Marvel at the Mockery

Read:  Psalm 123 / Proverbs 9 / Eccl. 3 /Mark 12

Psalm 123:4 ~ Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

Proverbs 9:10-12 ~ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding… If thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

Ecclesiastes 3:11-14 ~ He hath… set the world [eternity, Heb. עוֹלָם o-lawm'] in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end… that men should fear before him.

Mark 12:10,11 ~ And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

We marvel at the mockery

And at the pride of sinners scorning:

In spite of evidence they see,

They still reject our Savior’s warning!

How marvelous it is indeed

As we behold it with our eyes:

Prophetic Scriptures that we read

Exalt the Lord whom fools despise.

Prophetic Peace

Read:  Psalm 122 / Proverbs 8 / Eccl. 2 /Mark 11

Psalm 122:6 ~ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Proverbs 8:1 ~ Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

Ecclesiastes 2:13 ~ Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

Mark 11:22 ~ Jesus… saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Jerusalem, for you we pray

That peace may by your consolation,

For prophecy foresees that day

When Christ shall govern every nation.

The light is shining even now;

Prophetic peace lifts up her voice:

Have faith in God!  Before Him bow!

Be wise, while yet you have the choice!

Victory over Vanity

Read:  Psalm 121 / Proverbs 7 / Eccl. 1 /Mark 10

Psalm 121:7 ~ The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

Proverbs 7:24 ~ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

Ecclesiastes 1:14 ~ I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Mark 10:45 ~ Even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

There’s victory over vanity

And freedom from the great vexation

That threatens all humanity

With hopelessness and condemnation.

The Lord became a sacrifice

To be a ransom for us all,

And to this end He paid that price

To rescue many from the fall.

Delivered from Deception

Read:  Psalm 120 / Proverbs 6 / Job 42 /Mark 9

Psalm 120:2 ~ Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

Proverbs 6:5 ~ Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Job 42:10 ~ And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends.

Mark 9:7 ~ A cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Though lying lips are everywhere,

We are delivered by God’s Word.

We thus escape deception’s snare

As does the liberated bird.

We are delivered when we pray

As in God’s presence we rejoice.

The Lord will guard us every day

And guide us as we heed His voice.

Still Straying?

Read:  Psalm 119:169-176 / Proverbs 5 / Job 41 /Mark 8

Psalm 119:176 ~ I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

Proverbs 5:21-23 ~ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings… in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Job 41:10-11 ~ Who then is able to stand before me? Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

Mark 8:17-18 ~ Have ye your heart yet hardened? Having eyes, see ye not?... Having ears, hear ye not?... do ye not remember?

We’ve gone astray as wayward sheep,

In spite of everything we’ve heard.

The seed we sow, we also reap,

As God has told us in His Word.

If now our heart is hardened still,

Let us repent without delay,

That we may do our Savior’s will

And, by His grace, no longer stray.
