Pure and Preserved

Read:  Psalm 12 / Proverbs 5 / Hosea 10 / Revelation 12

 

Psalm 12:6,7 ~ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. 

Proverbs 5:7 ~ Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Hosea 10:12 ~ Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Revelation 12:17 ~ The dragon was wroth… and went to make war with the remnant… which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

 

The words of God are very pure,

And they shall be preserved forever.

We find in them our Savior’s cure

Beyond the scope of man’s endeavor. 

 

The time has come to seek the Lord,

To do His will, and to be healed.

Though Satan ruthlessly has warred,

Christ Jesus is our Strength and Shield.

Worship or Wander

Read:  Psalm 11 / Proverbs 4 / Hosea 9 / Revelation 11

 

Psalm 11:4 ~ The LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

Proverbs 4:19,23 ~ The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble… Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Hosea 9:17 ~ My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken… they shall be wanderers among the nations.

Revelation 11:17 ~ We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

 

The Lord beholds us with His eyes

And tries us from His lofty throne. 

Let us be vigilant and wise

To know Him and to make Him known!

 

The proud who will not hear His voice

Shall wander in the dark and stumble,

Yet we who worship Him rejoice

To know He seeks and saves the humble.

Written Wisdom

Psalm 10:17 ~ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear.

Proverbs 3:13-15 ~ Wisdom… is…precious… and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 

Hosea 8:12 ~ I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

Revelation 10:10 ~ And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey.

 

The Lord has heard the true desire

Of humble hearts He has prepared. 

They seek His wisdom that is higher

Than earthly thinking, so impaired.

 

God’s settled Word shall never change

Within His written revelation. 

Though fools dismiss His words as strange,

His Book proclaims His sweet salvation.

Either Well or Endless Woe

Psalm 9:10 ~ And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Proverbs 2:4,5 ~ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Hosea 7:13 ~ Woe unto them! for they have fled from me… I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

Revelation 9:21 ~ Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

 

It shall be well with all who seek

And find in Christ eternal treasure. 

He satisfies and saves the meek

With righteous grace and endless pleasure. 

 

But woe to them who turn to lies,

Rejecting Christ whom God has sent! 

Our great Redeemer they despise

Would save them if they would repent!

Majesty and Mercy

Read:  Psalm 8 / Proverbs 1 / Hosea 6 / Revelation 8

 

Psalm 8:3,4 ~ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars… What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Proverbs 1:7 ~ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Hosea 6:6 ~ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Revelation 8:2 ~ I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

 

The majesty we see above

In all the stars of outer space

Is far exceeded by the love

Of Christ who visits us with grace!

 

The mercy that our God desires

Is found by those who fear His name,

For this is what our Lord inspires

And what angelic hosts proclaim.
