Remedy of Reproof

Read:  Psalm 6 / Proverbs 6 / 2 Samuel 12 / Luke 22

Psalm 6:2 ~ Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

Proverbs 6:23 ~ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

2 Samuel 12:7 ~ And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man.

Luke 22:31-32 ~ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

The Lord’s reproof that we have heard

Should make us pray with urgency

For healing promised in His Word;

This is God’s gracious remedy.

Reproof was heard in David’s case

And Peter likewise from the Lord.

Our Savior intercedes with grace

That we may also be restored.

David's Dismay

Read:  Psalm 5 / Proverbs 5 / 2 Samuel 11 / Luke 21

Psalm 5:8 ~ Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

Proverbs 5:21 ~ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

2 Samuel 11:27 ~ The thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

Luke 21:36 ~ Watch ye therefore, and pray always… to stand before the Son of man.

The Lord has seen our enemies,

Both those without and those within.

We need to ponder what He sees,

And by His counsel, flee from sin.

As David found, to his dismay,

His heart was weak when he was tried.

Beware!  We too must watch and pray

To stand with grace God will provide.

Christ Still the Corner Stone

Read:  Psalm 4 / Proverbs 4 / 2 Samuel 10 / Luke 20

Psalm 4:4 ~ Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Proverbs 4:11 ~ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

2 Samuel 10:12 ~ Be of good courage… for our people… for… our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.

Luke 20:17 ~ What is this… written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

Behold the Lord, and stand in awe,

For He delivered us from wrath,

He satisfied His holy law,

And leads us in His righteous path.

We find our courage in His Word

By every promise He makes known

As we are certainly assured

That Christ is still the Corner Stone.

Kindness of my King

Read:  Psalm 3 / Proverbs 3 / 2 Samuel 9 / Luke 19

Psalm 3:3 ~ But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Proverbs 3:34 ~ Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

2 Samuel 9:7,13 ~ And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness…  So Mephibosheth… did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.

Luke 19:10 ~ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

The King of Glory is my Shield;

He is the Lifter of my head,

For by His stripes I have been healed,

And at His table, I am fed.

With kindness He has spread His table;

My King has covered all the cost.

He lifted me, for He is able

Because He died to save the lost.

Preserved as we Pray

Read:  Psalm 2 / Proverbs 2 / 2 Samuel 8 / Luke 18

Psalm 2:11 ~ Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Proverbs 2:5,8 ~ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God… He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

2 Samuel 8:14,15 ~ The LORD preserved David… And David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

Luke 18:1 ~ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

We’re called to serve the Lord with fear

And glorify Him as we should.

We see Christ’s coming drawing near,

As signs foretold are understood.

King David prayed for God’s defense,

And God preserved him every day.

So let this be our confidence

As we are called to watch and pray.

Choosing what we Cherish

Read:  Psalm 1 / Proverbs 1 / 2 Samuel 7 / Luke 17

Psalm 1:6 ~ The LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Proverbs 1:32,33 ~ For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely.

2 Samuel 7:28 ~ O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true… Thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant.

Luke 17:32,33 ~ Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

God shows the way we ought to cherish;

This is the path of His salvation.

He shows the way of those who perish;

This is the path of condemnation.

We reap the harvest that we choose:

God sets before us death and life.

How much the sinner has to lose!

Recall the ruin of Lot’s wife.

His Promises Have Prevailed

Read:  Psalm 150 / Proverbs 30 / 2 Samuel 6 / Luke 16

Psalm 150:2,6 ~ Praise him for his mighty acts… Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Proverbs 30:4 ~ Who hath ascended up… or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth?

2 Samuel 6:15 ~ David and all… Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

Luke 16:17 ~ And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Praise God for all His mighty acts,

Who gathers wind within His fists,

Who sets before us all the facts

That amply proves that He exists.

The Lord descended in the past;

His promises have never failed.

The trumpet of the Lord shall blast

When Christ returns and has prevailed.
