“The LORD taketh pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation” (Psalm 149:4). “He that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30). “Thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins…. and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” (Matthew 1:21-23).
The
Lord has surely taken pleasure
In
those He ransomed as His own.
He
beautifies them as His treasure
By
His salvation He has shown.
The
ransom paid for our salvation
Is
greater than we comprehend!
Christ
died in great humiliation;
There
was no more that He could spend!
He
came from heaven’s lofty place
To
Bethlehem in lowly birth.
He
gave Himself, extending grace
By
which we know what we are worth!
They
called Him JESUS when He came,
For
He would save our souls from hell.
Isaiah,
too, foretold His name
As
God With Us: EMMANUEL.
What
was it that He saw in us
That
made Him pay that awful price?
Such
love is truly marvelous
Reflected
in His sacrifice!
How
greatly then our souls were cherished
By
Christ who died at Calvary!
Without
His grace, we would have perished,
Condemned
for all eternity!
O
Lord, we contemplate Your love,
And
we’re astonished as we do,
Which
made You leave Your throne above
To
die for souls estranged from You!
We
thank You, Lord, that You esteemed
Our
souls as worth the ransom spent,
For
by Your pleasure You’ve redeemed
The
people who in truth repent.
So
many people lost in sin
Still
wander on a hopeless path.
Lord,
help us by Your wisdom win
The
souls You long to save from wrath.
