“The LORD also will be a Refuge for the oppressed, a Refuge in times of trouble. And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee” (Psalm 9:9,10). “Safety is of the LORD” (Proverbs 21:31). “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
There
is a Refuge and a Rest
When
troubles compass us around.
The
Lord will shelter the oppressed;
In
Him alone is safety found.
The
hearts who know and love the Lord
Have
put their trust Christ our Savior,
For
only He can well afford
The
Rest and Refuge of His favor.
For
those who put their trust in Christ
Have
found the Rest that is assured,
Since
He for them was sacrificed
As
God had promised in His Word.
The
Lord has never been mistaken,
Which
all promises have shown.
We
know we shall not be forsaken,
For
He will never leave His own.
We
hear Him say, “Come unto Me,”
To
all who bear their load of sin,
“And
I will give you rest,” said He,
To
all who will invite Him in.
O
Lord, we thank You for such love
That
looked upon our hopeless case
And
left Your majesty above
To
humbly bring to us Your grace!
Lord,
teach us how speak for You,
So
we may make the Gospel clear
And
show the lost Your Word is true
That
grace may teach their hearts to fear.
O
Lord, this fear is the beginning
That
leads a soul to truly seek
A
Refuge from the wrath for sinning
Within
Your Rest of which You speak.
We
thank You, Lord, for what You did
To
rescue us from sin and shame.
Your
Rest and Refuge are not hid:
We
find their fullness in Your name!
