Humble vs. Hardened

Read:  Psalm 93 / Proverbs 21 / Isaiah 39 / Luke 20

Psalm 93:5 ~ Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, forever.

Proverbs 21:29 ~ A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

Isaiah 39:8 ~ Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD… For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Luke 20:17 ~ What is this then that is written, The Stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the Head of the corner?

The testimonies of the Lord

Declare He is forever holy,

Yet by His grace we have explored

Salvation offered to the lowly.

Our Savior is the Corner Stone

By whom the humble may be pardoned,

But Christ upon His great white throne

Shall judge the proud whose hearts are hardened.

To Seek and To Save

Read:  Psalm 92 / Proverbs 20 / Isaiah 38 / Luke 19

Psalm 92:5 ~ O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Proverbs 20:24 ~ Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

Isaiah 38:17 ~ Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

Luke 19:10 ~ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

The works of God are surely great;

The thoughts of God are very deep.

When we were in our lost estate,

He saw our tears; He heard us weep.

Behold the wondrous love of Christ

Who came to seek and save the lost:

He suffered and was sacrificed

To ransom souls at such a cost!

Secret of our Safety

Read:  Psalm 91 / Proverbs 19 / Isaiah 37 / Luke 18

Psalm 91:1 ~ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Proverbs 19:23 ~ The fear of the LORD tendeth to life… he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Isaiah 37:14 ~ And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

Luke 18:39,42 ~ They which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me… Thy faith hath saved thee.

There is a secret place to dwell

That gives us safety in the strife,

That rescues us at last from hell,

And leads us to eternal life.

Like Hezekiah who had spread

Before the Lord that dreadful letter,

We should not fear, but pray instead,

Assured that trusting God is better.

Prayerfully Pursue

Read:  Psalm 90 / Proverbs 18 / Isaiah 36 / Luke 17

Psalm 90:12 ~ So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Proverbs 18:10 ~ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Isaiah 36:18 ~ Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Luke 17:30,32 ~ Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed… Remember Lot's wife.

Our days on earth are very few,

So we should fear the Lord, not man.

We ought to prayerfully pursue

The heart of God and trust His plan.

When Hezekiah was afraid,

He prayed to God and did not lack.

Let his example now persuade

Our hearts to trust and not look back.

Favor Foretold

Read:  Psalm 89 / Proverbs 17 / Isaiah 35 / Luke 16

Psalm 89:14,15 ~ Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound.

Proverbs 17:22 ~ A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Isaiah 35:10 ~ The ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads… and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Luke 16:26,29 ~ There is a great gulf fixed… They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

The Law, which called for condemnation,

By grace and truth was satisfied.

We thank the Lord for our salvation,

For to this end, our Savior died.

Though sin had caused a gulf so great,

The Lord foretold His wondrous favor

By prophecies which clearly state

That Christ would come to be our Savior.

Price Paid!

Read:  Psalm 88 / Proverbs 16 / Isaiah 34 / Luke 15

Psalm 88:3 ~ My soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

Proverbs 16:8 ~ Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

Isaiah 34:16 ~ Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail… shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his Spirit it hath gathered them.

Luke 15:10 ~ Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

As souls are drawing near the grave,

Their greatest need is righteousness.

No other benefit can save

The bankrupt sinner; nothing less!

The price for righteousness was paid

By Christ when all His life was spent,

And thereby sinners are arrayed

In righteousness when they repent!

Boundless Beauty

Read:  Psalm 87 / Proverbs 15 / Isaiah 33 / Luke 14

Psalm 87:3 ~ Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.

Proverbs 15:24 ~ The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Isaiah 33:17 ~ Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

Luke 14:8,9 ~ Sit not down in the highest room… a more honorable Man than thou… Give this Man place.

The things we’ve heard are glorious

Regarding Christ enthroned above:

Behold our King victorious,

And marvel at His boundless love!

Our eyes shall soon delight to see

The beauty of our King of grace.

Till then, our hearts should rightfully

Reserve for Him the highest place!

Confidence in Christ

Read:  Psalm 86 / Proverbs 14 / Isaiah 32 / Luke 13

Psalm 86:11 ~ Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

Proverbs 14:26 ~ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Isaiah 32:1,2 ~ Behold, a King shall reign in righteousness… And a Man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

Luke 13:34 ~ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

Beholding Christ, the way is clear

That rids me of a double mind.

His goodness leads with godly fear;

His mercy follows me behind.

My Refuge and my Confidence

Is in my Lord, the King of kings,

Who gave Himself for my defense

To shelter me beneath His wings.

Truest Treasure

Read:  Psalm 85 / Proverbs 13 / Isaiah 31 / Luke 12

Psalm 85:8 ~ I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

Proverbs 13:8 ~ The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

Isaiah 31:6 ~ Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.

Luke 12:34 ~ Where your treasure is, there will your heart be.

We’ve heard what God the Lord has spoken;

To grant us peace has been His pleasure.

His promises are never broken;

In Christ we’ve found our Truest Treasure.

What joy this gives to us who find

The ransom that has made us His!

Our Savior gives us peace of mind,

For He is where our Treasure is.

Counselors of Christ

Read:  Psalm 84 / Proverbs 12 / Isaiah 30 / Luke 11

Psalm 84:11 ~ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Proverbs 12:20 ~ Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy.

Isaiah 30:21 ~ Thine ears shall hear… This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand… when ye turn to the left.

Luke 11:21,22 ~ When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh… his spoils.

The Lord is both a Sun and Shield

Who gives to us His grace and glory

As Christ our Savior is revealed

Within the Gospel’s wondrous story.

Since we are counselors of peace,

We dare not wait a moment longer,

For lies unchallenged shall increase,

But evidence from Christ is stronger.

Forbid Silence amid False Science

Read:  Psalm 83 / Proverbs 11 / Isaiah 29 / Luke 10

Psalm 83:1,18 ~ Keep not thou silence, O God… and be not still, O God… that men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth.

Proverbs 11:9 ~ An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

Isaiah 29:16 ~ Shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? Or… say of him… He had no understanding?

Luke 10:2 ~ The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.

There is no time for silence now

While people perish for a lie.

The hypocrites at last shall bow,

Yet now by falsehood, people die.

Though evolutionary schools

Declare that God does not exist,

Good science shall refute the fools

And prove the Gospel they resist.

Plant and Plow

Read:  Psalm 82 / Proverbs 10 / Isaiah 28 / Luke 9

Psalm 82:5 ~ They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

Proverbs 10:5 ~ He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Isaiah 28:24-29 ~ Doth the plowman plow all day to sow?... God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him… This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

Luke 9:62 ~ Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Deception has destroyed the land

Corrupting all the earth’s foundation

As souls refuse to understand

Their need to flee from condemnation.

Yet Christ our Savior came to save

The sinners who receive Him now.

We plant the Gospel seed He gave;

We dare not sleep when we should plow.

Honest Humble Hearts

Read:  Psalm 81 / Proverbs 9 / Isaiah 27 / Luke 8

Psalm 81:15 ~ The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him… their time should have endured forever.

Proverbs 9:12 ~ If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

Isaiah 27:4,5 ~ Fury is not in me: who would set… against me in battle?... Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

Luke 8:15 ~ But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The haters of the Lord shall find

They did not do themselves a favor

By scorning with a hardened mind

And not submitting to the Savior.

Before they die, they have a choice:

For God extends His peace today

To honest hearts that hear His voice

And humbly seek Him while they may.

Perfect Peace

Read:  Psalm 80 / Proverbs 8 / Isaiah 26 / Luke 7

Psalm 80:17 ~ Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

Proverbs 8:35 ~ For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.

Isaiah 26:3,4 ~ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee… Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

Luke 7:16 ~ They glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

Behold the Man whom God made strong

To thus extend His saving favor.

To Him we sing our grateful song

And magnify Him as our Savior.

He fills our heart with perfect peace

As we have pondered His salvation.

His tender mercies never cease;

He is our Cause for celebration!
