The
question found on Scripture’s page 
Should
make us wonder as we pause: 
Indeed,
“Why do the heathen rage?” 
What
is their purpose and their cause?  
Their
purpose shall be disappointed!
They’ve
set themselves against Lord 
And
raged against the Lord’s Anointed 
Whom
they have foolishly abhorred! 
No
longer do we have to wonder 
What
their intentions truly are:  
They
break the bands of God asunder, 
And
His cords from them afar! 
We
see the darkness of their way, 
So
void of wisdom and of light. 
We
hear the foolish things they say, 
Which
they imagine to be right. 
The
fear of God is far from them, 
So
all their reasoning is vain.  
Their
very souls they thus condemn, 
And
cast away eternal gain. 
The
wise man fears and will depart 
From evil when he will repent.
From evil when he will repent.
The
fool will rage with hardened heart 
And
blindly still be confident.  
We
thank You, Lord, for eyes that see, 
For
we, as others, once were blind.  
By
grace we view eternity, 
And
everlasting joy we find!  
So
many, Lord, are walking still 
Upon
the broad and darkened path 
Where
many rage against Your will 
Who
ought to flee from coming wrath.  
The
reason that they rage is clear: 
They
use their vain imagination 
Instead
of wisdom’s godly fear 
To
turn them, Lord, to Your salvation!  
The
raging, Lord, we know will cease 
When
every knee to You shall bow. 
Until
that day, we show the peace 
Which,
by Your Gospel, You endow.
