Gladly Led by Gospel Light

Psalm 148:12,13 ~ Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

Proverbs 4:11,18 ~ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths... But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Isaiah 8:18 ~ Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

Luke 21:33 ~ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

 

Let men and maidens, young and old,

Recount the Gospel’s wondrous story. 

The way of wisdom we behold

Shall manifest our Savior’s glory. 

 

The way our Lord has led is right,

For not one word shall pass away. 

His path is as the shining light

That’s growing brighter day by day.

Stated in the Stars

Psalm 147:4 ~ He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

Proverbs 3:19 ~ The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

Isaiah 7:11,14 ~ Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above… Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Luke 20:41 ~ How say they that Christ is David's son?

 

The Lord has counted every star;

He gave to each of them a name,

And now as messengers they are

Sent forth to spread abroad His fame. 

 

God named stars in heights above, 

Including VIRGO’s sign as well.

The Son of David came in love;

The VIRGIN bore Immanuel.

Happiness, Help, Hope

Read:  Psalm 146 / Proverbs 02 / Isaiah 6 /Luke 19

 

Psalm 146:5,6 ~ Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD… which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all… therein: which keepeth truth forever. 

Proverbs 2:20 ~ That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. 

Isaiah 6:8 ~ I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. 

Luke 19:10 ~ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

 

We find our happiness in Christ

With help and hope eternally

Because our Lord was sacrificed

To ransom us and set us free.  

 

We’ve heard our risen Savior’s voice

Remind us that He paid that cost

To thus extend to all the choice

To trust the Lord who saves the lost.

Problem of Pride

Read:  Psalm 145 / Proverbs 01 / Isaiah 5 /Luke 18 

 

Psalm 145:18 ~ The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Proverbs 1:33 ~ But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Isaiah 5:21 ~ Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 

Luke 18:11 ~ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 

 

To humble hearts, the Lord is near,

But He resists the heart of pride.

The problem that the Lord makes clear

Is arrogance He sees inside. 

 

The Pharisee who proudly prayed

Was wise in his own estimation. 

The humble publican displayed

A heart that yearned for God’s salvation.

His Names meet Human Needs

Read:  Psalm 144 / Proverbs 30 / Isaiah 4 /Luke 17

 

Psalm 144:1,2 ~ Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war… my fingers to fight: my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Proverbs 30:4,5 ~ Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended?...  what is his name… his son's name, if thou canst tell?  he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Isaiah 4:2,6 ~ In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious… and there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.

Luke 17:26 ~ And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

 

The names of Christ meet human needs:

He is our Fortress and our Shield. 

Our risen Shepherd safely leads,

And by His stripes we have been healed. 

 

He is our Shade in daytime heat,

Our Guiding Light when it is dark,

And in the storm our Lord shall meet

Our needs like Noah in the ark.

Will it be Well?

Read:  Psalm 143 / Proverbs 29 / Isaiah 3 /Luke 16

 

Psalm 143:8 ~ Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

Proverbs 29:18 ~ Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Isaiah 3:10,11 ~ Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Luke 16:22,23 ~ The rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham. 

 

The Lord has caused our ears to hear

His lovingkindness every morning.

His Gospel makes our vision clear

And saves those who will heed His warning. 

 

Because our Lord was sacrificed,

We trust Him, and it shall be well.

But woe to those rejecting Christ,

For no one else can save from hell!
