Psalm 134:1 ~ Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.

Proverbs 22:20 ~ Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge?

Jeremiah 35:13 ~ Thus saith the LORD of hosts… Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD.

Romans 9:33 ~ As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

 

As watches in the night are stood,

There is an opportunity

To use the time, as watchmen should,

To praise our Savior gratefully. 

 

Let us be mindful in our walk

To meditate on Scriptures written

That magnify the Lord our Rock

Who bore our grief when He was smitten.

Safe and Sound

Read:  Psalm 133 / Proverbs 21 / Jer. 34 / Romans 8

 

Psalm 133:1 ~ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Proverbs 21:31 ~ The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

Jeremiah 34:4 ~ Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of thee. 

Romans 8:1,39 ~ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus… Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 

How good and pleasant we have found

In Christ our refuge and delight.

By grace He keeps us safe and sound

In battles we are called to fight.

 

Let our accuser be forewarned:

In Christ there is no condemnation.

Though we may be despised and scorned,

In Christ there is no separation.

To Rule and To Reveal

Read:  Psalm 132 / Proverbs 20 / Jer. 33 / Romans 7

 

Psalm 132:8 ~ Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

Proverbs 20:8 ~ A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

Jeremiah 33:3 ~ Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Romans 7:24-25 ~ O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

 

Let God into His rest arise

To rule my heart upon His throne

And scatter evil with His eyes

As He makes His dominion known.

 

Let God reveal mighty things

As He invites me now to call

On Christ, who is the King of kings,

To reign in me as Lord of all.

Gazing at God

Read:  Psalm 131 / Proverbs 19 / Jer. 32 / Romans 6

 

Psalm 131:1 ~ LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in… things too high for me.

Proverbs 19:20,21 ~ Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.  There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Jeremiah 32:27 ~ Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?

Romans 6:23 ~ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

 

How lofty is Jehovah’s throne?

Too high for me to comprehend! 

I leave such thoughts to God alone

From the beginning to the end. 

 

I know that nothing is too hard

For God who saved me by His favor.

I see His hands and feet yet scarred

As I am gazing at my Savior!

Died in our Defense

Read:  Psalm 130 / Proverbs 18 / Jer. 31 / Romans 5

 

Psalm 130:7 ~ Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

Proverbs 18:10 ~ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Jeremiah 31:3 ~ The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Romans 5:8 ~ But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

 

The mercy of our Lord’s salvation

Abounds with His redeeming power.

He rescues us from condemnation;

He is our Refuge and our Tower.

 

We’re drawn with everlasting love

By Christ who died in our defense.

He intercedes for us above

And saves the sinner who repents.

Promised to Perform

Read:  Psalm 129 / Proverbs 17 / Jer. 30 / Romans 4

 

Psalm 129:2 ~ Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

Proverbs 17:17 ~ A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Jeremiah 30:13,17 ~ There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines… I will restore health unto thee… I will heal thee of thy wounds.

Romans 4:20,21,25 ~ He staggered not… persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform… delivered for our offences, and… raised again for our justification.

 

Though many times I’ve been afflicted,

My enemies have not prevailed

Because their hatred was restricted

By Christ whose love has never failed.

 

Though no one else would plead my cause

When I was battered by the storm,

My Hero came and, without pause,

Did all He promised to perform.

Expected End

Read:  Psalm 128 / Proverbs 16 / Jer. 29 / Romans 3

 

Psalm 128:1 ~ Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

Proverbs 16:6 ~ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Jeremiah 29:11 ~ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Romans 3:26 ~ To declare… His righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

 

How blest are those who have behaved

With godly fear that rules their heart.

By grace and truth they have been saved, 

And from their evil ways they part.

 

How sure is our expected end

As Christ declares His heart’s desire!

He is our Peace, our dearest Friend,

Our Hero, and our Justifier.

Gospel in the Gate

Read:  Psalm 127 / Proverbs 15 / Jer. 28 / Romans 2

 

Psalm 127:3,5 ~ Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD…  they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Proverbs 15:28 ~ The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Jeremiah 28:16,17 ~ Therefore thus saith the LORD… this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year.

Romans 2:4 ~ Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

 

Let children now be trained to speak

And share the Gospel in the gate

To warn the lost that they should seek

The Lord before it is too late.

 

Like Jeremiah who had spoken

The truth with God’s prophetic sentence,

We show the Scriptures are unbroken

Which lead a sinner to repentance.

Time for Tears

Read:  Psalm 126 / Proverbs 14 / Jer. 27 / Romans 1

 

Psalm 126:5 ~ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

Proverbs 14:25 ~ A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Jeremiah 27:10 ~For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you… and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

Romans 1:15,16 ~ So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you… For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

 

The time has come to sow in tears

To reap with joy the souls we reach 

As God prepares their hearts and ears

To hear the Gospel that we preach.

 

Let us be ready, unashamed,

And urgent as we preach the Word,

So precious souls may be reclaimed,

Whose hearts are by the Gospel stirred.

Prudent Trust in Prophetic Truth

Read:  Psalm 125 / Proverbs 13 / Jer. 26 / Acts 28

 

Psalm 125:1 ~ They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.

Proverbs 13:14 ~ The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Jeremiah 26:15 ~ Of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.

Acts 28:29 ~ And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

 

The hearts that trust in God the Lord

Shall not be moved, like Zion’s Mountain,

And like a living spring outpoured,

The fear of God shall be a fountain. 

 

Prophetic truth is therefore brought

To sinners in this present season

That they may prudently give thought

To trusting Jesus for good reason.

Hope for Heavy Hearts

Read:  Psalm 124 / Proverbs 12 / Jer. 25 / Acts 27

 

Psalm 124:2,5 ~ If it had not been the LORD who was on our side… then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Proverbs 12:25 ~ Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Jeremiah 25:7,11 ~ Ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD… to your own hurt… these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Acts 27:25 ~ Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

 

If God had not been on our side,

We would have drowned in condemnation,

But for our sake the Savior died

To rescue us with His salvation. 

 

Though heavy hearts regret the years

In sin’s captivity they spent,

By grace our Savior comforts, cheers,

And saves the sinners who repent.

Lost and Loud

Read:  Psalm 123 / Proverbs 11 / Jer. 24 / Acts 26

 

Psalm 123:4 ~ Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

Proverbs 11:29 ~ He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

Jeremiah 24:7 ~ I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

Acts 26:24 ~ Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

 

Though we are weary of the scorning

Of those who with contempt are proud,

We should not cease to give them warning,

For they are lost, though they be loud.

 

Let rebels hear the Savior’s voice,

Receiving Him as their Defense,

For God extends to all this choice

And saves the sinner who repents.

Pray for the Peace

Read:  Psalm 122 / Proverbs 10 / Jer. 23 / Acts 25

 

Psalm 122:6 ~ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Proverbs 10:5 ~ He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Isaiah 9:6 ~ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given… and his name shall be called … the Prince of Peace.

Jeremiah 23:5,6 ~ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper… and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Acts 25:12 ~ Then Festus… answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

 

We pray for the enduring peace

That Christ the Prince of Peace shall bring. 

His government shall never cease;

Jerusalem shall praise her King.

 

He is THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

To whom we prayerfully appeal.

To Him shall every tongue confess,

And every knee to Him shall kneel.

Justified by Jesus

Read:  Psalm 121 / Proverbs 9 / Jer. 22 / Acts 24

 

Psalm 121:1,2 ~ I will lift up mine eyes… from whence cometh my help…. from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

Proverbs 9:10 ~ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 

Isaiah 53:11 ~ He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Jeremiah 22:29 ~ O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

Acts 24:14 ~ So worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets.

 

We lift our eyes to God above

Who made the heaven and the earth.

We marvel at His wondrous love

And thank Him for our second birth.

 

We preach the Gospel He revealed

In Scripture clearly prophesied,

For Jesus has become our Shield,

And by Him we are justified.
