Brief Battle

“I am the LORD which sanctify you” (Leviticus 20:8).  “Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto Thee to hide me” (Psalm 143:9).  “The ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He pondereth all his goings” (Proverbs 5:21).  “Ten kings… receive power as kings one hour with the beast.  These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.  These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14).

Praise God by whom we’re sanctified,
As overhead He spreads His wings!
In Him alone we safely hide:
Our Refuge is the King of kings!

We know our enemies are strong;
We wrestle not with flesh and blood.
Be steadfast, for it won’t be long:
Their end shall come in like a flood.

The Lord beholds the ways of man;
He ponders every thought and deed.
He’s given us our battle plan:
We go to Him for every need!

In Christ we find our strategy:
The Lord Himself is our Defense!
His truth shall surely make us free
When coupled with obedience!

We see the brevity of life,
For soon we’re called to fly away,
Yet Christ gives triumph in the strife
To those who trust Him and obey.

We know at last how it will end:
The battle lines are clearly drawn.
Our Lord from heaven shall descend,
And every foe shall soon be gone.

The beast shall gather then His hordes,
Who think they’ll overcome the Lamb.
Behold our King, the Lord of lords,
And tremble at the great I AM!

For Christ, the Lamb, shall thus be greeted
By Satan’s armies in that hour,
Yet with a Word they’ll be defeated,
Confronted by our Savior’s power!

We thank You for this future glance
Of when the battle shall be through,
So in our present circumstance,
We’ll place our trust, O Lord, in You.

Lord, even as the conflict rages
And souls yet blindly march like cattle,
We show to them the Scripture’s pages
That You may save them in this battle.

Lord, help us show them all Your grief
In Your defense for them so strong
And that their life, at best, is BRIEF
And their eternity is LONG!
