Purifying Presence

Read:  Psalm 34 / Proverbs 23 / Job 42 / Matthew 5

Psalm 34:1 ~ I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Proverbs 23:17 ~ Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

Job 42:2 ~ I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

Matthew 5:8 ~ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

The time to praise the Lord is now

In every moment that He gives.

The fear of God shall teach us how

To show the lost that Jesus lives.

There is no thought that we can hide

From God who sees our inward part.

So may His presence purge our pride

With grace that purifies our heart.

Baited Book

Read:  Psalm 33 / Proverbs 22 / Job 41 / Matthew 4

Psalm 33:11 ~ The counsel of the LORD standeth forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Proverbs 22:20,21 ~ Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Job 41:1,10 ~ Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook?...  who then is able to stand before me?

Matthew 4:19 ~ And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

The counsel of the Lord shall stand,

Regardless of what men shall do.

The Lord foretold what He has planned,

And everything He said came true.

The Lord equips us with His Book,

Assuring us He’ll come again.

As fishers with a baited hook,

We’re fishing for the souls of men.

Delight and Declare

Read:  Psalm 32 / Proverbs 21 / Job 40 / Matthew 3

Psalm 32:8 ~ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Proverbs 21:29 ~ A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

Job 40:9 ~ Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

Matthew 3:17 ~ And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

We hear the voice of Christ our Lord,

Who guides and guards us in His way,

By whom we also are restored

When we are prone to go astray.

We hear the voice from heaven tell

Of God’s great pleasure in His Son.

Let us delight in Him as well

As we declare what He has done!

Ascending with Adoration

Read:  Psalm 31 / Proverbs 20 / Job 39 / Matthew 2

Psalm 31:5 ~ Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

Proverbs 20:12 ~ The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Job 39:27 ~ Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?

Matthew 2:2 ~ Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him.

We hear the final cry of Christ,

Just as the psalmist who could hear it,

When He for us was sacrificed

And afterwards dismissed His spirit.

Ascending with majestic wings,

The eagle soars above creation.

Ascending as the King of kings,

Christ fills our hearts with adoration!

More Marvelous

Read:  Psalm 30 / Proverbs 19 / Job 38 / Matthew 1

Psalm 30:11,12 ~ Thou hast… girded me with gladness; to the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent.

Proverbs 19:20 ~ Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Job 38:4 ~ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Matthew 1:23 ~ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

The Lord has girded me with gladness;

I do not have a closer Friend.

He gave me joy instead of sadness

With love I scarce can comprehend.

The Lord who laid the earth’s foundation,

Did something still more marvelous:

Becoming Man, He brought salvation!

Emmanuel is God with us.

Mighty and Merciful

Read:  Psalm 29 / Proverbs 18 / Job 37 / Revelation 22

Psalm 29:4 ~ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Proverbs 18:10 ~ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Job 37:5 ~ God thundereth marvelously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

Revelation 22:17 ~ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

God’s mighty voice is powerful,

Yet He is merciful as well.

He is the Refuge of our soul

Who has delivered us from hell.

His voice has thundered with His power

When judgment ushered forth His flood,

Yet grace protects us in His tower

And ransoms us with precious blood.

Deeds He Has Done

Read:  Psalm 28 / Proverbs 17 / Job 36 / Revelation 21

Psalm 28:1,5 ~ O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit… because they regard not the works of the LORD.

Proverbs 17:16 ~ Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?

Job 36:24 ~ Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

Revelation 21:6 ~ It is done…. I am Alpha and Omega… I will give… of the fountain of the water of life freely.

I need to hear and heed my Lord

So that my heart will not be hard,

Like those who blindly have ignored

His works that they will not regard.

I’ll magnify the mighty deeds

That Christ my risen Lord has done.

The Lord alone could meet my needs;

There’s no one like Him; no, not one!

My Lord is My Light

Read:  Psalm 27 / Proverbs 16 / Job 35 / Revelation 20

Psalm 27:1 ~ The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Proverbs 16:6 ~ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Job 35:10,11 ~ God my Maker… giveth songs in the night; Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth.

Revelation 20:12,15 ~ I saw the dead… stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life… And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The Lord is my light and salvation;

Of whom should I, then, be afraid?

He died for my justification,

For by Him my ransom was paid!

The songs in the night that He gives

Have lifted my eyes to His throne,

Proclaiming that Christ ever lives

To justify all of His own.

Examined by His Eyes

Read:  Psalm 26 / Proverbs 15 / Job 34 / Revelation 19

Psalm 26:2 ~ Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

Proverbs 15:3 ~ The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Job 34:31-32 ~ It is meet to be said unto God… That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

Revelation 19:11-13 ~ And behold… He… was called Faithful and True… His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns… and his name is called The Word of God.

The Lord examines me with grace

And makes His counsel understood.

His searching eyes in every place

Behold the evil and the good.

The Lord refines my heart’s desire

To purge my thoughts when they are flawed.

His eyes are like a flame of fire;

His name is called the Word of God.

Bold Behavior

Read:  Psalm 25 / Proverbs 14 / Job 33 / Revelation 18

Psalm 25:14 ~ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

Proverbs 14:26 ~ In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Job 33:24,29,30 ~ I have found a ransom… Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, to bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

Revelation 18:4 ~ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

The secret of God’s saving grace

Is found when we have fled to Christ.

In Him we have a Hiding Place

Since He for us was sacrificed.

We’ve found a ransom that was paid

By Christ our Refuge and our Savior!

Since He has said, “Be not afraid”,

Let us go forth with bold behavior.

Lamb and Lord

Read:  Psalm 24 / Proverbs 13 / Job 32 / Revelation 17

Psalm 24:8,10 ~ Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle… the LORD of hosts.

Proverbs 13:17 ~ A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

Job 32:8 ~ But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Revelation 17:14 ~ These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are… faithful.

Who is this glorious King above

Who, with a Word, the battle wins?

Behold the Lamb, the Lord of love

Who died to save us from our sins!

The Lamb and Lord, the King of kings,

Shall overcome His foes in war

When He returns and with Him brings

The saints He saved forevermore.

Sees my Steps

Read:  Psalm 23 / Proverbs 12 / Job 31 / Revelation 16

Psalm 23:6 ~ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Proverbs 12:5 ~ The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Job 31:4 ~ Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

Revelation 16:5 ~ Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.

The Lord is good, I surely know,

Through time and through eternity.

He shelters me from every foe

And by His truth, He makes me free.

He sees my steps and all my ways

And guides my feet upon His path

To live a life of grateful praise

For He has saved my soul from wrath.

Sacrificed for our Salvation

Read:  Psalm 22 / Proverbs 11 / Job 30 / Revelation 15

Psalm 22:30,31 ~ A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Proverbs 11:30 ~ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Job 30:23 ~ For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

Revelation 15:4 ~ Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

Declare the righteousness of Christ

Who has accomplished our salvation!

For us our Lord was sacrificed;

We are His new-born generation!

The Lord has called us to be wise

By winning souls with godly fear,

For every living person dies

And judgment day is drawing near.

Trusted and Triumphant

Read:  Psalm 21 / Proverbs 10 / Job 29 / Revelation 14

Psalm 21:13 ~ Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

Proverbs 10:29 ~ The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Job 29:2,3 ~ In months past… God preserved me… by his light I walked through darkness.

Revelation 14:7 ~ Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

We would be hopeless, helpless, halted

Without the strength of God’s salvation.

Let Christ be trusted and exalted,

Triumphant in each situation.

The Lord preserved us in the past,

And by His light He led the way,

So let us fear the Lord at last,

For He is faithful every day.
