“No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire… He shall not go in unto the veil, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish” (Leviticus 21:21,23). “Blessed be the LORD my Strength… my Goodness, and my Fortress; my high Tower, and my Deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I trust… Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD” (Psalm 144:1,2,15).
Instructions
given in God’s Law
Regarding
sacrifice and priest,
Did
not allow for any flaw
Or
any blemish in the least.
Consider
well what this displays
Regarding
Christ and His perfection!
No
fault is found in all His ways,
In
whom we find our soul’s protection!
The
perfect Priest within the veil
For
sinners now has entered in
With
precious blood that does not fail
To
wash away the vilest sin!
He
is our Sacrifice as well,
The
spotless Lamb of God who died,
To
save eternal souls from hell,
Who
by His grace are justified.
How
happy now we rightly are
To
find ourselves in such a case!
For
we who once from God were far
Are
now brought near with flawless grace!
O
Lord, our God, our perfect Strength,
Our
Goodness, Fortress, and High Tower,
We
thank that You went the length
To
rescue us with saving power!
We
praise You, Lord, our strong Defender,
For
You became our perfect Shield!
We
trust in You with sweet surrender
As
Your perfections are revealed!
Lord,
send us forth to show the lost
The
perfect Priest in You we’ve cherished,
For
You alone have paid the cost
To
ransom those who would have perished.
