“Bring… a young bullock without blemish unto the LORD for a sin offering… sprinkle of the blood seven times before the LORD, before the veil… The whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place… and burn him on the wood with fire” (Leviticus 4:3-12). “Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin… by His knowledge shall My righteous Servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:10,11). “Jesus Christ… loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood… I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Revelation 1:5,18).
Behold
the offering for sin
As
typified within the bull:
No
blemish seen without, within,
Thus
made atonement for the soul.
The
blood was sprinkled seven times
Before
the Lord, before the veil,
Foreshowing
payment for our crimes
With
greater blood which would not fail.
Then
carried forth outside the camp,
And
in a clean place burned on wood,
We
see this portrait like a lamp
Whereby
the cross is understood.
For
Christ became our Offering;
To
cleanse us He was sacrificed.
The
blood of bulls did no such thing,
Yet
they foreshadowed Jesus Christ.
Praise
God, for we are justified
The
moment we receive the Lord,
For
to this end our Savior died
And
rose to grant us this Reward!
The
keys unlocking death and hell
Are
firmly in our Savior’s hands.
He
lives forevermore to tell
His
justifying power stands!
O
Lord, we celebrate Your love
Which
held You to that awful cross!
You
left Your majesty above
To
rescue us from endless loss!
You
saved us, Lord, from judgment’s flood,
As
billows crashed upon Your head.
In
love, You washed us in Your blood,
And
laid Your life down in our stead.
Lord,
send us that we may proclaim
The
Gospel of Your saving grace
And
show the reason You became
An
Offering to take our place.
