Folly of Forgetting

“The people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount… and said… We know not what is become of him” (Exodus 32:1).  “Mine enemies have forgotten Thy words… yet do not I forget Thy precepts” (Psalm 119:139,141).  “The ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He pondereth all his goings…. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray” (Proverbs 5:21-23).  “The Chief Shepherd shall appear… for He careth for you” (1 Peter 5:4-7).

When Moses went up to the mount
To hear the truth that God conveyed,
There was a very sad account
Of what took place as he delayed.

The people waiting there below
Grew weary after certain days;
How foolishly they did not know
That God was pondering their ways!

Today it surely is the same,
For mockers mock, as they did then,
Who know, in fact, the Savior came,
Yet question if He’ll come again!

How sadly these shall go astray
Because they have refused instruction:
Rejecting Christ, they go their way
To be destroyed by their seduction.

Be sure of this:  He shall appear!
Our God and Savior cannot lie!
The coming of the Lord draws near,
And we are called to testify!

He is the Shepherd who is Chief
Of all His sheep within His care.
Behold, He’s coming as a thief,
And we shall meet Him in the air!

O Lord, You’ve heard within our schools
This foolish dogma that is taught,
Persuading students to be fools,
Forgetting what Your power wrought.

Lord, help us urge them now to choose
To not forget Your Gift of Love,
An offer only fools refuse,
Affording them a home above.
