“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad... They that sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126:3-5). “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil” (Proverb 16:6). “Of some have compassion… and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” (Jude 1:22-25).
The
Lord has done great things for us:
With
gladness we will praise His name!
His
grace and truth are marvelous
By
which He purged us from our shame!
Yet
joy now has its counterpart:
To
weep for souls with true compassion,
To
thus reflect our Savior’s heart,
And
sow the Gospel in this fashion.
What
great compassion was displayed
When
Christ our Savior for us died:
The
cost to save our souls was weighed
And
by His death was satisfied!
By
grace and truth our sin is purged:
Christ
knew the judgment He would face.
Now by His Spirit souls are urged
To
find in Christ their Hiding Place.
Behold
the strength of Christ’s desire
Compelling
Him to leave His throne
That
He might pluck us from the fire
And
make His great salvation known!
Lord,
by Your love we’re kept from falling
And
You have purged us from our sin.
May
we fulfill our holy calling
To
labor for the souls You win!
We
worship You, our God and Savior,
With
all Your blood-bought congregation!
Now
send us forth to show Your favor
That
purges us by Your salvation!
