Priesthood Privilege

“I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to Me in the priest's office” (Exodus 29:44).  “Ye also… are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ… Ye are a… a royal priesthood… that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:5,9). 

As Aaron was a type of Christ,

His sons depicted all Christ’s own.

We show that Christ was sacrificed

To worship Him and make Him known. 

Now we are called a priesthood holy

To offer Him our adoration.

The Lamb of God, so meek an lowly,

Laid down His life for our salvation! 

We are a royal priesthood too,

To represent the King of kings,

To praise Him for His love so true,

And show the mercy that He brings. 

We show the darkness we were in

Before He called us into light.

For there the Lord exposed our sin

And there as well He gave us sight.

We saw our judgment on the cross,

Where Christ, the Lamb of God, was nailed. 

He purged our sins away as dross,

And as our Champion prevailed. 

His victory is marvelous! 

Behold Him risen from the dead!

We praise the Lamb who died for us

And rose in triumph as He said! 

O Lord, we celebrate Your love,

And bring our sacrifice of thanks.

We join the multitudes above

To praise You with the blood-bought ranks. 

Lord, help us know the full extent

Of priesthood privilege we receive,

To speak to souls who will repent,

Will heed the Gospel, and believe.
