“To
the counselors of peace is
joy... Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it
glad” (Proverbs 12:20,25). “The place of
the Scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;
and like a lamb dumb before His shearer, so opened He not His mouth: in His
humiliation His judgment was taken away: and who shall declare His
generation? For His life is taken from
the earth. And the eunuch answered
Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this?...Then
Philip…began at the same Scripture, and preached unto him Jesus… And he went on
his way rejoicing.” (Acts 8:32-35).
The
Lord sees the heaviness in broken hearts
With
sorrow that’s covered but still isn’t cured,
Yet
by His good Word there is joy He imparts,
And
JESUS, above every name, is that Word.
The
Spirit of God is directing His own
To
preach in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
To
tell what the prophets so clearly made known,
Foretelling
the Gospel of Christ sacrificed.
We
see this displayed in the eunuch who came,
To
whom the evangelist Philip would speak.
The
good Word he spoke was in declared in the name
Of
JESUS our Savior, so lowly and meek.
The
place in the Scripture the eunuch had read
Was
found in Isaiah foretelling salvation
As
One, like a Lamb, to the slaughter was led,
Who
went forth in silence in humiliation.
It
was at this Scripture that Philip began,
And
preached about JESUS, who died in our place.
The
eunuch rejoiced at God’s marvelous plan
And
trusting in Christ, he was then saved by grace!
O
Lord, we give thanks for the Gospel we preach,
That
wonderful Word with the power to save!
Now
send us to those You prepare us to reach,
Declaring
the gift of salvation You gave!
