“I
will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people…
Surely His salvation is nigh
them that fear Him… Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace
have kissed each other” (Psalm
85:8-10). “The God of our fathers raised
up Jesus… Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior… And we are His witnesses of these
things; and so is also the Holy
Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey Him” (Acts 5:30-32).
How
clearly the Spirit of God has now spoken!
Salvation
is near, yet so many resist!
The
bond of God’s mercy and truth is unbroken;
His
righteousness also and peace have now kissed!
Can
mercy be offered when truth undefiled
Demands
that transgressions be recompensed fully?
Can
God’s perfect righteousness be reconciled
To
offer us peace who are judged as unholy?
God’s
Spirit has spoken: His answer is YES,
Though
God’s truth and righteousness are not denied,
For
Christ came with truth and His own righteousness
So
justice and judgment could be satisfied!
The
God of our fathers thus gave us a Savior:
He
spared not His own Son to save us from hell!
His
Spirit has spoken to offer God’s favor,
And
He dwells within all His people as well.
Our
Lord Jesus Christ now is greatly exalted,
And
we by His mercy are cleansed from our sins.
Not
one of His children can ever be faulted,
For
Christ declares blameless the souls that He wins!
O
Lord, we give thanks for Your wondrous salvation!
Your
Spirit has spoken, and so we would too,
For
all who receive You escape condemnation
By
mercy and truth met together in You.
