“How
should man be just with God?... Who hath hardened himself against Him, and hath prospered? Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and
treadeth upon the waves of the sea” (Job 9:2-8). “The floods have lifted up their voice; the
floods lift up their waves. The LORD on
high is mightier than the noise
of many waters, yea, than the
mighty waves of the sea” (Psalm 93:3,4).
“Through this Man [Jesus] is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: and by Him all that believe are justified
from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Beware therefore, lest that come upon you,
which is spoken of in the prophets: Behold,
ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work
which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you” (Acts
13:38-41).
A
man may now be justified
Who
humbly seeks the Savior’s face,
Yet
mockers rise up in their pride
And
spurn our Lord’s amazing grace.
The
floods have lifted up their voice,
The
noise of hearts against Him hardened.
The
Lord has granted them a choice,
And
thus they choose to not be pardoned.
They
have defied the living God
Who
made the heavens, earth, and sea!
They
lift up words which men applaud
To
mock the truth that makes us free.
The
Lord is stronger than these waves,
Though
He is patient for a season,
For
by His mercy still He saves
The
souls who yet will come and reason.
We
hear the reasoning of Paul
Conclude
with Scripture’s solemn warning
Addressed
to waves that rise and fall
To
heed God’s Word and cease from scorning.
The
work of God of which we speak
Is
strong that offers His salvation!
The
waves may roar, but they are weak;
They
won’t escape their condemnation.
O
Lord, we thank You for Your love
That
waits for sinners to repent.
Now
let Your Gospel rise above
The
noise of waves where it is sent!
