"Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.... My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me" (Proverbs 27:1,11). "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" (Matthew 6:33,34).
While living today, we may plan for tomorrow.
The grace of our Lord is sufficient each day
To trust and obey Him in joy or in sorrow,
Providing us wisdom to walk in His way.
The things of tomorrow are clear in God's eyes,
Who surely foresees how a matter will end.
One day at a time we are called to be wise;
Our wisdom is found as on Him we depend.
Boast not of tomorrow, but boast in the One
Who holds every soul that He saves by His grace.
We rest in His promise, that when all is done,
His perfect provision through life we shall trace.
O Lord, we would live everyday with this goal:
To live in a manner that gladdens Your heart
With all of our heart, and with all of our soul,
And all of our strength by the grace You impart.
