More than Mountains

"Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey" (Psalm 76:4 ).  "The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18).  "I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys... that they may see... the LORD hath done this" (Isaiah 41:18-20).  "He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord" (2 Corinthians 10:17). 

The mountains in their majesty

And all the beasts of prey therein

Exist by the divine decree

Of Christ who takes away our sin. 

Now more and more we see His splendor

In every aspect of creation,

Yet even more, as our Defender,

We praise Him for His great salvation. 

He opens rivers in the mountains,

Yet living waters He imparts. 

He opens in the valleys fountains,

Yet sends His Spirit to our hearts.   

O Lord, Your works are glorious

Which we behold in all the earth,

Yet when we see Your love for us,

We ponder even greater worth! 

Lord, more than mountains in their height

And all You made so beautiful,

We glorify You in the light

Of what You did to save our soul.
