"Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment" (Job 32:9). "Hear thou, My son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way... My son, give Me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe My ways" (Proverbs 23:26). "Peter, turning about... saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him... What is that to thee? Follow thou Me" (John 21:20-22).
The
men which many may applaud,
May
not be wise in heaven's sight.
The
wisest counsel comes from God;
His
Word will guide us with His light.
We
hear Him speak to us as sons
To
guide our hearts into His way.
We
dare not look to other ones
Or
let our vision from Him stray.
He
bids us give our heart to Him;
There
surely is no wiser place!
All
other options are so grim,
So
void of His preserving grace!
When
Peter turned around to see
What
Christ would have another do,
Our
Lord said, "What is that to thee?"
And
we should heed that question too.
We
only need to fix our eyes
On
Christ and go where He will lead.
There
is no other way so wise
Or
better counsel that we need.
Lord,
thank You for Your voice so tender
With
perfect counsel You make known:
Our
wisest way is to surrender
And
follow You, and You alone.
